Sometimes I contemplate the arrogance of our society, thinking we are masters of the universe. It only takes a hurricane, a collapsed bridge or a financial crisis to be reminded how fragile our security is. These quilts use narrow pieced strips to hold together large expanses of tiny bits – much as we are all held together by those fragile webs of human infrastructure. These three closely related series remind us of the things we cannot control, or that we have allowed to get out of control.
